functional movement disorder

I've recently discovered that my 16-year-old daughter is dealing with a functional movement disorder. Unfortunately, the doctor who is treating her has limited knowledge about this condition, which is quite frustrating. The shaking attacks typically last for 2 to 6 hours, and they often occur while she is at school. I'm wondering if anyone has personal experience with this disorder or knows of any effective methods to help shorten the duration of these episodes?
